Card for a queen challenge

Our card for a queen challenge finishes tonight so there is still a little time to join in.   I am very late posting my card here.

I decided to use a technique I was reminded of a couple of weeks ago that I hadn't done for a while.

I used the Mardi Gras set of Starburst Stains as they are very regal colours, each  has a secondary brass mica colour.

The photos are quite dark so you cant't see very well but I've used the stains, glossy accents and tissue.

As I've got loads of Fran-tage glitters I also added some of them inside too to add some sparkle

I found a great ribbon to match, olive green and burgundy

Then sat and added all the bling!!!

I used:
Acetate and Tissue
Crown button, brad, ribbon and yarn from ye olde shoppe stash!!

I hope you all have a great time this coming weekend with your Jubilee celebrations, enjoy the bank holiday!

Encrusted Jewel Technique Vintage Photo Frame

I finally got round to taking a photo of the frame I made for the workshop last weekend.  I made another frame using the Ikea mirror that the ladies were going to decorate as the smaller frame is no longer available (typical!) but it did give us a bigger area to work with.

It is the type of project where no 2 frames would be exactly the same so I wanted to decorate the new frame  to give the ladies something visual to look at while at the same time, adapting the techniques for their own frames.

It is really hard to capture the colours of the Moonshadow Ink and the gold embossing so I took these photos outside in the sunshine today which has helped a bit.

The frame is stained with Moonshadow Ink and stamped with Stampendous Elegant Border stamps.

I made up a magical mix of embossing powders, fragments, glitters etc, then added aged gold and shabby white embossing enamels randomly.

Ribbon was embedding in the embossing here and there too and also stained with Moonshadow Ink before fraying and adding to the centre

One of the reasons I'm only just getting round to posting this is that I was floored by a really nasty bug this week, thankfully it is gone now, it's far too hot to have a bug!

I hope you are having a great weekend and enjoying this lovely weather, keep cool :)

Workshop yesterday in Snod Hall

Ian and I had a fab day yesterday at a workshop organised by Cazro who many of you know in blogland.

The workshop was to decorate a Vintage Photo Frame.  The original frame I used as the basis of the workshop was no longer available (the frame at the top right of the page) so the design was changed but still made in the same style.  I haven't taken a picture of my frame yet but will show it another time.  I have more photos to show from the day but here is a start.

The hall is a fabulous place to hold a workshop, there was plenty of room to work in and natural light.

The 15 ladies learnt the general techniques and then applied them to their frames in their own way, it was lovely to see so many variations, each one different to the next.  This was the first time the ladies had tried this and some felt out of their comfort zone but they all should feel proud of their work.

Some feature vintage photos, others are made back into mirrors.  This selection is from my camera, I also have some on my phone to show.

Unfortunately the photos really don't do the frames justice, the true colours and shimmery effects just don't seem to photograph well on my camera but they will give an idea of what we were doing.

Adding an old photo really brings the frames to life

We used Moonshadow Inks on the frames along with the Fran-tage Encrusted Jewel Technique.

We initially used a magic mix I made up that contained embossing powders and lots of bling to create random  textures.

This frame was made for a grand daughter one of the ladies, they make great gifts.

I'll show more another time.

I'd like to thank Carol for organising the day and for all the ladies who came and made it a very special day.

We've been asked back to hold another workshop later in the year and we will definitely look forward to it!

Port Sunlight Show on Saturday!!

I get to play for the day with Fran-tage and Fran's Encrusted Jewel technique:)  It is a good time to have a look at how gorgeous these products are in real life.  My camera isn't brilliant so it's difficult to capture the texture, sparkle and total yummiousness of the different mixes.

The show is ticket only so we hope you have yours, Ian and I are looking forward to the show and hope to see many of you there.

Have a great weekend whatever you are doing :)

Your Favourite Technique

Our challenge for this next fortnight is Your Favourite Technique.

I admit that even I think I've gone a bit OTT with the bling on this card!!

Stampendous CRP147-R Cling Butterfly Post

Our very talented American teamie Angela is hosting this challenge and the design team have all used different techniques so there is quite a selection to see.

We hope you can join us for this challenge, you have about 2 weeks to show us YOUR own favourite techniques.

Stampendous Fran-tage Daffodil

A quick post to show another Fran-tage card.

I coloured the main panel, card and daffodil with Woodware Chalks.  With the bad light here and having to correct brightness etc, you cannot really see the colours very well, but it is all yellows, mauves and greens, and is very spring like.

The embossing powder on the border stamp is actually gold and glittery, but I've forgotten which one I used now, and I'm not going to say which stamp border it is as it is out of stock and I don't want to frustrate anyone about it, sorry!  I'm sure I'll use it again and will tell you what it is then!!!

You can see edge on the card better in the photo below, you can either ink the edge with Versamark or a glue pen and then dip it into the powder and heat.  I did use Shabby White embossing enamel for the edge and sprinkled on gold halo glitter while the embossing powder was still hot.

The products I used are on our website in the Stampendous section HERE

We also have lots of other Stampendous embossing products that I am still trying to add pictures to, you will find them HERE, as you can of course mix other embossing powders and tinsels with the new enamels too matching up colours in your projects.

Have fun!!!
